Introducing The Lyons Method
The Lyons Method is a series of Maths education tools in the format of A4 boards, developed by long-term teacher and passionate entrepreneur Larissa Lyons. The boards have been designed to support independent learning of Maths basics. In 2019 Larissa launched the multiplication/division board and in 2020 she launched the addition/subtraction board.
The Lyons Method promotes independent learning with a first-of-its-kind board for users to practice and memorise addition/subtraction and multiplication/division. The A4, double-sided boards are a new concept to Maths tools, and every little detail has been thoroughly considered in its design, including the unique font which was developed for the product to help those with dyslexia. They are produced in stunning full colour, durable, and can be taken anywhere.
Larissa was all too aware that the children she taught in after-school tuition were struggling to understand the four basic concepts of mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This impediment was holding them back from moving at the same pace as their peers and so she set out to develop a better learning aid to help them.
Most of us can visualise the extra numbers in our head that are not visible on the times' tables, but some children and adults cannot. The Lyons Method boards visually show students the extra numbers in stunning visibility, and how to carry a number if there is a remainder. Repetition is key to teaching Math and the physical boards displaying the Lyons Method make numbers and sums tangible.
